Having defeated Boo, Goku is starting to get bored with his life on Earth. His wife, Chi-chi, wants him to get a job, but all he wants to do is train and fight stronger enemies. Elsewhere in the universe, the God of Destruction, Beerus, and his attendant Whis are traveling from planet to planet in search of food and entertainment. After blowing up some hapless victims, Beerus is reminded of a man from his dreams with the moniker “Super Saiyan God,” or something like that… The God of Destruction sets his sights on Earth to track down this mysterious man! Maybe this will give Goku something to do?

 

Dragon Ball Super (Japanese: ドラゴンボール超スーパー, Hepburn: Doragon Bōru Sūpā, sometimes abbreviated as DBS) is a Japanese manga series outlined by Akira Toriyama and illustrated by Toyotarou. A midquel to Toriyama’s original Dragon Ball manga, it follows the adventures of Goku and friends during the ten-year timeskip after the defeat of Majin Buu.[4] It began serialization in Shueisha‘s monthly shōnen manga magazine V Jump in June 2015. The manga is simulpublished in English by Viz Media and by Shueisha on their Manga Plus platform.

An anime television series produced by Toei Animation aired in Japan from July 2015 to March 2018. A sequel film, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, was released in December 2018 and became the highest-grossing anime film of the franchise. A second film, Super Hero, was released on June 11, 2022.

Akira Toriyama, renowned worldwide for his playful, innovative storytelling and humorous, distinctive art style, burst onto the manga scene in 1980 with the wildly popular Dr. Slump. His hit series Dragon Ball (published in the U.S. as Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z) ran from 1984 to 1995 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. He is also known for his design work on video games such as Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, Tobal No. 1 and, most recently, Blue Dragon. His recent manga works include COWA!, Kajika, Sand Land, Neko Majin, Toccio the Angel and Jaco the Galactic Patrolman. He lives with his family in Japan.
