Digitally colored comics exist in Japanese. Official English translations convey the story most accurately, but also have some issues with translating names that I’m not a fan of. They also only exist in black and white. I am simply taking One Piece and One Piece and combining them to create… One Piece! Some examples of translation deviations: “Zolo” => “Zoro”, “Navy” => “Marines”, etc.
Seeking to be the greatest pirate in the world, young Monkey D. Luffy, endowed with stretching powers from the legendary “Gum-Gum” Devil Fruit, travels towards the Grand Line in search of One Piece, the greatest treasure in the world.

I started this project on Reddit a while ago. After I finished Vol 1, someone requested that I skip to Skypiea. I completed the Skypiea arc then went back to the beginning to continue from there. I plan to eventually cover the whole series, it will just take some time to get through.

There are some SBS that are not officially translated into English, including this one. I do not translate the script myself, so I left the Japanese-only SBS as they were.

Do you plan to continue with volume 25 soon? If you want a break from this version I understand but it’s just one more volume to close the gap. This’ll be plenty of content for a long while. One more thing, some of the chapter covers between volumes 27-29 aren’t appearing.

I am currently working on redoing the series with a higher resolution. I am also adding translations for background sfx. Check out Ch 1 to see the new version. I will start working on Vol 25 the same way I did the original version, then I will rework the series from the start to update the old chapters.

I will finish Vol 25 first then yes, I will be going back to redo the older chapters in higher quality. Hopefully it will be relatively quick since I still have my old working files, but there is still a lot of rework. Once I catch up, I will continue the series from there. It will take a while though. No way around that.

I understand if this is too big of an ask, but any thoughts on adapting the Stephen Paul translations to the volumes up to 54? Even as an alternate version?

It would be the ultimate colorized, as it brings a more consistent translation. There is a gap between 55-64 where Stephen didn’t publish his version of scripts before he was brought on as the official translator.
I understand this is a much larger undertaking and would be a “stretch goal” if you do find the idea worthwhile, but I figured it was worth asking about either way.

I have looked into the Stephen Paul script before and decided it wasn’t worth the effort. It would take a ton of extra work for me to make a version with it. Something I noticed, at least for the early chapters, is Stephen Paul’s version is distinctly different from the Viz script. As in, if Viz says “That’s great!”, Stephen Paul’s version might say something like “It is good!” It seems like he was hesitant to just re-use the Viz text at all, even if it was appropriate. Also, in chapter 1, he uses “retard” as a slur. I’m pretty sure that is considered in bad taste nowadays. Also, the effort was very boring and no fun so I gave up pretty quick. But I did consider it, I just ruled it out.

Wow, you are a legend, honestly. I was positively surprised to see the term “Mary Geoise” in this version, since it’s kinda of a recent romanization by Oda I will be senting these colored version to anyone who is starting One Piece. Great translation and great correction of some of Viz misteps
